"In recent decades, interest in hunger artists has declined a lot. In the past, yes, it was still worthwhile to the very big performance. Those were just different times. But what should I do now? I was not only too old to take up another profession, but above all too fanatically devoted to starvation. So I said goodbye to the impresario, the comrade of an unparalleled career, and let myself be engaged for a literature festival. And I assure you that I'm just as hungry as I used to be."
