Enchanted nature, world stars of the literary scene, rustling trees, balmy summer nights, lots of food for thought and no mosquitoes - this is the secrect recipe of Switzerlands's most beautiful literature festival.

The 8th edition of the Zurich Literature Festival should have taken place from June 29 to July 5, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated restrictions, risks and uncertainties, this year's festival unfortunately had to be cancelled.

The decision was all the more regrettable with regard to the program:

  • Kwame Anthony Appiah (USA), most influential philosopher of the present
  • Jhumpa Lahiri, US best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize winner
  • Marlon James, the first Jamaican Booker Prize winner
  • Chris Kraus, the feminist US cult author ("I Love Dick")
  • Uwe Timm, the great German novelist
  • Words on Stage - Best of Spoken Word with Fatima Moumouni, Christoph Simon, Manuel Stahlberger, Tanja Kummer, Gerhard Meister, Anna Trauffer, Franziska Bruecker.

So instead of experiencing magic moments in the Old Botanical Garden, we were left with just a quiet summer.
